Communication intensive something

M and I finally got a weekend with a little room to breathe. No house guests, no great furniture moves, no double-bookings, nada. We had a rather brief but informative meeting with a florist, and then spent the rest of the weekend decompressing from a very, very busy February.

What did we do with our restful weekend to ourselves? Mostly we hid at home, did laundry, put away dishes, and played video games. I played the piano a bit. We stomped through seven Heroics with our motley crew of characters on Sunday.

Our lives right now are a sea of email, phone calls, conference calls, and travel itineraries, not to mention people who want pictures of wedding details, or updates on wedding or professional decisions. Disappearing into a game, with our friends, and knocking some monsters' heads together is a nice break.

He's already back in the Bay Area, and I head out at o' dark thirty tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I'm left to sort through the myriad of personal and professional calls I need to return (... hi Mom, and Dad ...) and attempt to make heads or tails of my paperwork for the week.

It gets overwhelming very quickly.

We're also adjusting to a new travel schedule. Since we moved in together, M's been the one traveling and I've been the one at home. Always. If I was out of town, he was also out of town. In the last two weeks, he's had to spend time here without me. We've both arrived at the conclusion that being the one on the road is easier than being the one left at home alone.

Field work puts an interesting strain on all of our other relationships. I shouldn't be surprised that it affects ours, too. It's going to take awhile to balance out, and then M will head back to school. Whee!
