Spelling, FTL

My long-standing pet peeve about my name has resurfaced with a vengeance! I've had a string of emails this week, from people who really ought to know better, wherein my name is misspelled. I can't fathom why they're unable to spell my name in the body of an email when the correct spelling is mere inches above in the To: field.

Is it really that hard to look up and double check?

My F is just not that unique. Especially in a Swiss company. I respect all their crazy spellings, and look up their names in the company directory if I have any question about it. Is it too much to expect the same? I bet IT has done something "helpful" like aliased the most common misspellings of our names to our email inboxes, which just perpetuates the problem in my mind.

My birthday cake was misspelled, too, but I don't feel the same irritation about it. M ordered it over the phone, on his way to or from Yuma, on short notice and the chef has sat down and talked to us twice or thrice. And, really, if they're going to write my name out in real chocolate... I'll take the extra letter, gladly.

I like cake too. And that was the really nice one from Julian. I hope you froze a spoonful for me. Don't you feel guilty. Have I been a good mother to save you from that last bite?
Happy Birthday whoever you are- f or ph- you are still the little girl to me.

Lack of attention to obvious details frequently bother me, too. Honestly, you have to wonder about people sometimes...

However, I'd take an extra chocolate letter, too. :D

It was great to see you!
