Happy Easter

M and I experimented with some holiday themed crafts today. Namely egg dying. But not the boil 'em and dip 'em style, gracious no. That would be too pedestrian. Instead we tried the Silk Tie Dying method, which requires a trip to the Good Will store (one just opened a few blocks away), some deconstruction of offendingly ugly neckware, and then fine motor skills and patience.

They turned out rather nicely. I was hoping the blue-with-tiny-flowers motif would transfer a bit more strongly, and M wanted his garishly striped ones to come out more colorfully, but the two truly hideous ties turned out nice eggs.

This is way less messy than wax-and-dye, and I can justify spending a couple hours on them as a grown up, too.
