Oh hey, it's Summer
We finally bought a couch. It wasn't the couch we thought we were in love with, but it's very similar and subtly different in even more pleasing ways. Now we wait... it'll get here sometime this August.
M and I continue to wrestle with our full time jobs and wedding planning, falling ever so much more behind the curve of things to do in all realms of our lives, but still making enough headway to delude ourselves with thoughts of everything falling into place at the last minute. Life is very day-by-day here, at least for now, and there's the ubiquitous feeling that we're slowly going crazy.
We had a lovely Midsummer at Tree of Life, with some friends we haven't seen in ages. Dianna is now the sole owner of the shop, so stop by and say congrats (if you're so inclined).
Work is maddeningly stressful, and will continue on this way for the forseeable future. I'm almost looking forward to Jury Duty in July, because it gets me out of the Maelstrom for awhile.
Good friends are back in town (for generous definitions of "in town"). Lau's back for her annual birthday visitation, and Ling's moving back to the left coast sometime soon. Hurray!
The parents came, visited, met one another, shared meals, saw the Zoo, told stories, and went home. All in all our family round robin went very well and everyone seemed to get along fine. I know it's a huge weight off M's mind (mine too), but it's also nice to have been able to host all of the parental units in our very own house at least once before the big event.
I hate that we hardly have any time to spend with our friends. I'm hoping that will change as all the Change dies down and we get into that part of Marriage and The House and University where we just live together, and aren't constantly juggling 2-3 massive projects on top of our ambitious day jobs/school.
Summer's starting to heat up and we're certainly feeling the pressure of wedding planning, going back to school, continuing to get "settled in" and climbing the corporate ladder. Whoever knew being a lifetime A-type personality was going to be this exhausting!
I am really looking forward to this Fall. It will be good to see Scott, and a lot of friends we haven't seen for almost as long. We'll get married, and then go on a lovely vacation. And when we get home, we can write thank you notes from the comfort of our still-new couch.
Almost like we'd planned it that way... ~_^
