Not with a bang...
My project walked out the door yesterday, hauled by four large and very capable men. It's sitting in a warehouse in Poway now, where I'll be this afternoon to supervise crating it up. And then it's on to either our US HQ or global HQ for reassignment.
I can't vocalize how I'm feeling right now, except overwhelmed. I'm grateful that the move itself went unbelievably simply, especially considering that moving the instrument in took three days, six people, and a lot more bruises.
I have a few more loose ends to tie up, and then the project will be gone. Almost as if it were never really here. We don't have other equipment in that lab, so I may not see the lab members again. It's a bit like quitting a job, since I've seen them every day for almost a year. I have felt more like a part of their company than ours for a long time now.
Oh well, off to work. I'll be back in the field and just another engineer by Friday. It feels a little empty right now, but I'm looking forward to lowered stress levels.
