Shiny new buttons

I finally got around to updating my blog from a "Template" to a "Layout"... and I am now frustrated by the widgets and obfuscated mark-up. I'd like to add a vertically-oriented Moon Phase calendar back in the bottom of my side-bar... but since it's not a pre-created widget, I would have to edit what now passes for HTML (or XML?) in the editor and I believe I'm about three programming languages short of comprehending it.

I'll figure this out, some day, but it will take diagramming and researching to figure out the syntax all over again. Which is a lot like what I do at work every day, so it's not a high priority for my free time.
